Fiber is just a bit to expensive for me I'm looking to pay about R100 less then it costs now, is fiber expected to reduce in price in future months with the rollout in new areas?

It could, but it's still very new so unless the ISP's charge less I think the line rental will stay the same for a while to the ISP.

What backbone? The Telkom fiber should reduce in price as the new IPC kicked in, but could also be that the ISPs increased the quality instead.

Few months? You're being optimistic. It's taken well over a year for the few suburbs that do have it...

Everything usually reduces in price once it becomes widespread and the cost of manufacturing and providing the service reduces due to economies of scale. Can't say how long this will take though.

The cost of a Fibre line consists of the ISP portion and the portion of the company that laid and manages the network.

If prices go down, it is most likely to be the ISP side. Think about it - when last has the ADSL access fee gone down?

Also Telkom is not the only horse in town. Vumatel, Frogfoot, etc charge much less for the Fibre portion of the cost. Compare Telkom and Frogfoot / Vumatel prices. Telkom is virtually twice as expensive!
