I was once an iTalk contract subscriber. I was also once a Virgin contract subscriber. I ported my number (MTN) from iTalk once my contract came to an end (about 12 months back) over to my Virgin contract. My Virgin contract has now run its course and I have been a prepaid client of Virgin since. I would much like to keep my mobile number and port back to MTN as a prepaid client.
However MTN (or for that matter Vodacom) can’t get the port right because they get the following error when trying to port – number already active on the MTN network (according to dealership/service centre). When I query this with MTN Port Helpdesk they say that they have not received a port request from the dealership (because the dealership can’t proceed with the port due to the error they receive.) and that the number is not active on the network.
I think my issue lies somewhere in the fact that I was initially a client of iTalk, they no longer exist right. And now my MTN no. cannot find its way home onto the MTN network again. I will just have to remain a Virgin I guess.
