Hi.

I am looking at buying an iPhone in Germany (because it is cheaper there). Will it work in South Africa (with a South African sim card)? Are are the iPhones geo-locked?

Sorry not directly applicable but i bought a iphone 11 in UK off Amazon and it worked just fine when I brought it back to South Africa. Only guidance i could find was you need to make sure its not locked to the service provider where you bought it (ie vodacom/mtn etc).

Thank you. I am looking at buying a second hand one from someone in Germany. It won’t be brand new. Is there a way to find out if it is locked to a service provider?

He's trolling you. It was an Android manufacturer operating out of East London. I don't think they even made a phone before it folded last year.

That said, if you are buying off Amazon.de for instance, it should state if it is network locked. If not, you're golden and it's going to work just fine. Otherwise you're going to have to rely on the seller to be open and honest with you about it being unlocked to be used on any network.
