Transcend memory has lifetime warranty by the way. you may want to get that.

Lifetime in this case means it has a warranty for as long as the product is on the shelves.

DDR is tri-channel thus are we not meant to buy it in multiples of 3 not 2?

Depends on the chipset/CPU used. DDR3 can be dual or triple channel. Only thing using tri-channel right now is the i7.

I wouldn't get that one. Assuming it's the Extreme Power. They aren't all that efficient. Try get something 80 Plus/SLI certified.
