Hi i bought a pc from a friend of mine. It has a acer rs780hvf motherboard. I want to buy a HD6850. Will the card work on the slots provided on the motherboard considering the PCI-E version on the board?

Hi & welcome to the forums.

That motherboard (on which I can find very little information) has a PCI-E 16x slot, so the HD 6850 will work just fine.

Could you perhaps tell us what brand & model power supply you have, as well as the CPU's model #?

What do you intend to use the graphics card for? CAD / Games / etc.

Amd athlon processor 1640B and i have a CoolerMaster RP/RS-650-PCAR Extreme Power Plus 650W. If i am correct the mobo has a PCI-E 2.0 port and the card requires a 2.1 pci-e slot will it work and will it fit in the slot?

I will be using the card for gaming

It'll work but you're gonna have one hell of a cpu bottleneck. Try get a dual core ASAP.

I'd suggest that you get a whole new gaming PC, but you can keep the power supply, because that motherboard & CPU is really terrible.
