Will these 3 replace the LAPTOP/PC???

Will the Apple iPad or the Samsung Galaxy Tab or the Blackberry PlayBook ever replace the Laptop or PC as we know it?

Are you Serious? you can't even hover or right-click with an iPad, and it's a cut-down version of an OS
You might as well ask whether the iPhone will replace PC's

.....and then Steve became blatantly upset, and vented like any self respecting man would. Now, everyone is tossing his supposed salad!

all the other CEO's are tossing Steve's salad? wow, He really does have a lot of power over them all :D

I think it can, for not high-end users. At home, I use my laptop mainly to surf the web, not much more. I also watch the odd movie on my laptop, but mostly watch movies on my PS3 and tv. So, replacing my laptop with an ipad/galaxy tab, seems like a perfect solution. I have wi-fi, so no worries there. Will be much nicer browsing the web on a tablet I can keep in my hand, walk around the house with. I play games on my PS3, so yes, I think, for certain users, the tablet can maybe replace their laptops. I know I am considering it...

From the quoted article:

If the laptop could not replace the PC, how then will the advent of all these new pads replace the laptop? I think that question right there…my genius has just come to the fore…that question will sum up everything ever said about technology replacing another technology. If the laptop in all its glory did not fully replace the PC, then how will the pads and tabs replace the laptop? If anything, the pad is not a new invention. Its just a bit more mainstream right now, it’s in a fad moving to a fashion phase where you’ll see every student and hip tech people have one, nonchalantly poking away on the touch screen at a coffee shop trying to be cool.

Pretty much sums it up in my opinion.

It is still early days for the tablets. Imagine a tablet with a multi core CPU capable of running Win 7 smoothly & good storage space. It may be tethered to a mobile handset for broadband & calls or have it available natively. Connect to your home / business Wifi for a remote touchscreen media player/websurfer/gamer (using PC's resources). Attach a wireless mouse/keyboard & use as a lite laptop.

I can see tablets replacing laptops, enhancing mobile handsets & acting as a remote device to access your powerful PC.

Mate...remember those tablets from I can't remember who...but one guy I know ONLY uses tablet...and he can do all this you IMAGINE...its already possible. Thus in the article it stated this is nothing new...its just going mainstream and not so much focused on Business...

Apple never intended the iPad to be a Macbook / iMac replacement. It is basically a way for Apple to introduce new users to the brand, and once the users have become used to the brand, they will try to move them over to a more traditional computer like a Macbook, iMac or Mac Pro. Reminds me of the intelligent displays Viewsonic manufactured a few years ago - it was never meant to replace your main computer, but rather enhance the experience.

I'm using Apple as an example since they were the ones who restarted this form factor.
