Hi all,

I looking to buy a card for my Bitcoin mining rig and i would like to know if a Tri slot GPU (Asus Matrix R9-280X 3 Gb) would fit on a mATX motherboard (H61M-P31/W8)

The worry is the front USB connectors but the SATA ports should be fine due to 90 degree SATA cables.

But if it isnt possible ill have to buy a bigger Mobo

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Why would you buy a Matrix card for mining?

Also it depends on the clearance of your chassis.

Buying that graphics card is a complete waste of money, because it costs almost 2x as much as the PowerColor R9 280x !

Besides costing that much more, under load it will also consume considerably more power, and not just in relation to how much more computing power it gives.

If you're just going to be doing BitCoin mining with it, then you're better off with an ASIC rig like people have said before.

Lastly, I don't like the Asus cards with those heavy coolers - unless they've fixed the physical structure since the HD6970 which I had... because the structure didn't support the big & heavy cooler well, which meant that the cooler put strain the PCB and your motherboard's PCI-E slot slightly.

Maybe he can get the Matrix card secondhand for a very good deal?

In all likelihood that card will fit.

Hi

I got a 290 for cheap on Carb and are using it for LTC mining. Bitcoin mining without ASIC machines are dead. Start/invest in LTC as pricing is set to boom soon.

Sweet spot cards are 290 and 7950 right now. Find them cheap second hand
