Hey all

Looking for the simplest and quickest solution to split the signal from my standard dstv decoder to 2 tv's. I dont have a PVR, only the small little grey decoder unfortunately. I was hoping that something like this would do the trick:
rca 1 male to 2 female.JPG

Basically, if I connect one of these to each output (a/v), will I be able to have the same signal playing through 2 tvs at the same time, without a significant drop in video or audio quality? The decoder is currently right next to the lcd tv in my bedroom, and the other tv is approximately 6 metres away.

Thanks

Those will work on the the RCA connection or you can use one of these on the RF cable:

thanks y'all

Already have a coax splitter going to my son's room, video signal is decent, sounds leaves a lot to be desired, but he's not complaining. Also have the coax going to the tv in the lounge, but quality is really crappy as its further away from the splitter in the roof, even after I tried to boost the signal with one of those amplified aerials. Thinking of keeping my son's tv on the coax setup, and doing the rca split to the lounge tv.

Another question, qill rca cable quality influence the signal as well? I can get a 15m cable from zakspeed for R80, but dunno if I should rather shell out a bit more for something else .. any thoughts?

I dont think I use any boosters on my RF cabling. I run from my lounge to my bedroom with 2 branches off from that line (one to my kitchen and other to my bar). My SD PVR signal is as expected via RF, but for some reason (but does not bother me) the HD PVR channel is snowy. I only watch the SD PVR in my bedroom anyway...

I would only use RCA or HDMI on the TV closest to the decoder... the rest of the house should be fine on RF... If you want HD quality you need a much more involved setup, not even I am bothered with that at this stage...

HDMI is definitely out of the question until i can afford a hdpvr, so I'll see what i can achieve using what I have atm. thanks for the input, will try to find some time so test my setup and give feedback if all goes well ... otherwise I'll be back here asking for help or donations

Why not just get another decoder and do xtra view?
Then the other TV can be on a different channel.
Trust me, as soon as there is 2 tvs, but only 1 channel, arguments will take over.
For the extra R60 or R70 a month it is totally worth it.
Think you might need to update your LNB on your dish to a Twin LNB, but they're cheap.

I bought one of these from bid or buy about a year ago, after the local installer asked R700 for the exact same thing.
Alternatively you can also pick them up from places like Game for like R100 more.

If you have PVR subscription, exraview is included.... I have the Original HD PVR + SD PVR, So I can have 3 TV's with 3 different channels at the same time.

Must say, I have not played around with the HD frequency setting, I dont need to see that channel anywhere except in my lounge tbh. I Modded my SD PVR a while back (thread in mybb somewhere about it). I run a bigger SATA drive externally for it, giving me 300hrs of recording time :)

You can change the sending frequency on the decoder, often the frequency clashes with another one and that's why it is snowy.

The HD PVR has a lower powered RF transmitter, I also have the same problem where the SD decoder is clear, but the HD PVR is not.

Dropping the RF out to the lowest possible frequency seems to help a lot on the Pace HDPVR.
