Will Vodacom support iPhone 4 Hotspot With iOS 4.3?

I can't see why they wouldn't. More data = more revenue.

Yeah, that's what I thought too about tethering. But they're too thick-skulled for that. Even after I confronted them about it they tried to blame Apple for it not working... I said something like: "Yeah, but if I put my MTN SIM in it works..." they went something like "Eish... err... no, but Apple". That was the end of it.

Vodacom hasn't said anything about my HTC Desire HD being used as a wifi hotspot for 5 devices, so why would they get upset about a phone that can't even offer that many connections??

I've been using my iphone 3G tethered on vodacom since they introduced it with whatever update it was.

Certainly will be nice if Apple/Vodacom (or MTN) does enable/allow this, I can't see why they wouldn't as bwana said - it is data that you have or have to pay for so they may as well. I can't see myself using it much but would be cool to have my iPhone4 as a WiFi AP to my WiFi only iPad.

I also tether all the time (when I get a decent 3G signal). No issues.

Whilst waiting for MTN or VC to enable it, just get yourself a CellC sim, stick in your iPhone 4 and tether to your iPad. ;)

Well I have my VC contract for my calls and data and also a CellC dongle already so I guess I could cut the CellC thing and stink in my phone but is a real schlep to keep swopping sims and all that bull so ... I see my usage as more "when and if needed" when I am away and not in WiFi coverage at home/work. But ja I know what you're meaning, CellC sim/solution is a perfect one for cool data usage.

Personal hotspot missing on IOS 4.3 for Vodacom (was Vodacom sleeping again?)
MTN has it on their version

Not an iUser (yet) so excuse my ignorance. Is the iOS version you download from Apple not "open" or does it include Operator specific "code" for MTN, Vodacom, CellC, 8ta, Virgin Mobile? Why should some things work on MTN but not VC (or CellC)?

not true - just created a hotspot on a VC iPhone 4 and connected 2 laptops and a iPhone 3G to it simultaneously - did a skype conference call and it worked great

Mobile hotspot works on vodacom Iphone, removed sim card and reinserted and there it was???? maybe i was the one sleeping, sorry vodacom

I am on Vodacom, running 4.3.1, tried removing the sim, putting it back again etc., but nowhere do I see the personal hotspot function! And yes, I know where to look - it should be in the first Settings screen. Any advice?

jip more data .. oversees they have unlimited data plans on their phones thats why there is a issue in us. The comnpanies there want users to pay a few $ extra.. i wish it was like that here

Try Reset Network Settings:

Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings

Then look for personal hotspot (maybe restart the device, remove/insert SIM)

I just had the same issue... go into Settings-General-Network-Personal Hotspot For some or other reason mine had changed to off, switched it on and off we go!
