Will your insurance cover current events?

With these "protests" aka riots going on, does your policy cover these events?

This is in my Santam policy.




I will also add what has been posted below. You insurance does not cover it but the fee you pay to Sasria (SOE), which is part of your policy, should pay it.

So check in your policy if you pay a fee towards Sasria. You will still lodge via your insurance company.

Are you paying a SASRIA fee? Its usually a small amount per item.

So no basic short term insurer covers Riots etc. Santam is basically just saying to you that your cover with them (Santam) wont pay out for riots etc. But, all insurers subscribe to SASRIA and SASRIA will cover the riots etc.

Because Santam won’t be paying out that portion. Sasria will, but the contract is giving Santam's responsibilities.

Our policies for home and business don't cover but we do have SASRIA. Why we work through a broker.

It's more of insurance not double insuring the same risk type than you getting screwed over.

I see on my policy it is listed under the vehicles, building and content separately. But in the end if SASRIA does not have the means to pay out on all the claims it is null and voided.
