Anybody here been to Williston? My cousin couldn't find a teaching post here in the Western Cape and got offered a permanent post at a school in Williston.

She left at 5 this morning. It's most probably going to be a huge change seeing that she's studied and lived in Stellenbosch for the last 4 years.

Eish, that's not where I would like to go, especially not at such a young age...

Maybe she can hook up with a rich farmers son and get free lamb chops

I don't want to leave my school. I've got the only airconditioned classroom in the school and my staff are the coolest bunch for many a mile around.

She should just be thankful that she got permanent employment straight out of Uni.
Small towns are cool. She can get in touch with nature, perhaps buy property on the cheap - even have a bastard child without the rest of the family knowing. Remote areas lend themselves to so many interesting oppurtunities.

If you want to see how the place looks, go and rent the Afrikaans movie "Jakhalsdans". It was written by Deon Meyer and it was filmed in the town of Williston. Deon Meyer also has a farm in the Williston region.

Ooops, I was wrong! The movie Jakhalsdans was filmed in Loxton, and not in Williston.

Cheaper to use google maps - street view is activated - even the dusty dirt roads ;-)
