WiMax equipment reuse

I need a flexible broadband solution that can be re-used when I move. WiMax seems to make sense but I have some questions:

1. As far as I can tell one basically needs an IDU & integrated CPE Antenna to pick up signal from a tower. Is this equipment compatible across WiMax providers (Telkom, Screamer, iBurst, others?). I’m thinking of paying for the equipment upfront (R2450 according to the Screamer website), but would want to take it along, and possibly get coverage from a different service provider, once I relocate.
2. Does the equipment determine the connection speed? In other words, if a service provider happens to offer a 4mb WiMax service is a couple of months (years?) time, would I need new equipment. I would assume it has a technical limit, but is 512K it?
3. If I buy the WiMax equipment, can I then also connect to the WUG towers? Or do I need additional/different equipment?

Alvarion CPE's will only work with Alvarion BTS's (Base station) for example.
there's not alot of interoperability between other vendors such as Huawei, NSN and alcatel, ericsson.

most CPE's can allready achieve 3-5Mb, depends on the servive provider to allocate you the bandwidth

WUG towers use 2.4ghz and 5.4ghz Wifi. Wimax equipment sits in a licensed frequency of 2.5ghz, 2.6ghz and 3.5ghz

There are 2 current WiMax standards - 802.16d and 802.16e - and they are not compatible. Additionally the older WiMax equipment is not properly compatible with the standards. Probably safe to assume no compatibility at all.

I would ask Screamer which brand of equipment they are using.

The specifications define the speeds - depends if the equipment has been built according to the standards

Nope - the WUGs use WiFi (802.11 a/b/g) which is a completely different communication standard.
