Wimax in Kuilsriver area (CT) ?

Does anyone know if there is wimax reception to be expected in the Kuilsriver/Bluedowns area soon?

Regarding your question, I'm also interested (but haven't made any enquiries though). I'm living in K/river and wouldn't mind hooking up Wimax. Let's hope some of the WUG boys can shed some light on this.

I live in the Cape Gate area, and recently had WIMAX installed, basically, you need clear line-of-sight to Tygerberg mountain, if that isn't an issue you SHOULD be able to get WiMAX in your area.

I must say I'm very happy with my WiMAX. I get nice fast pings from the office (<90ms) and I actually get downloads to about 60kb/s which is very close to the theoretical maximum of the 512kb service that WiMAX offers.
 
mysticBoer did they just give you wimax? Or are you outside the adsl footprint?
 
@Kloon: thanks for the invite. I was chatting to Stolla and WireIce yesterday afternoon and gave them g/earth co-ordinates. they also supplied me with some info of where I need to point to and stuff. I'll check what my finances are like at month end, but I'm really eager to give it a go.

w00t! Stolla and them probably told you that we have a test kit and that if you have beer in your fridge we will be happy to come do a scan at your place. The best highsite for you would probably be Saturn.

That looks to me like an very large pole, not an HS. Maybe we should call it an low site.
 
is it really that difficult to find out if you have Wimax or in the footprint?

i know personaly know that its not that difficult becuase it took 10 mins to find out give the address and suburb to the techie and they can tell you exactly

I ordered ADSL, and they told me that the ports in my area are all taken. So I told the lady she should cancel my order, as the date for new ports was something like April 2008 or something. At this point she indicated that I could also go the WiMAX route. It took about a week from that day forward to get it installed....but Telkom don't do the installation themselves. They use an independant contractor.
