Hi,

I have been recieving calls from people that claim to have a wimax telephone solution that would save my company money by replacing our current telkom (local calls) and premi cells (mobile calls). In not very clued up with wimax, is this true or should I still stick to telkom and premis for now.

Well shouldn't you ask them for a price comparison? I have Telkom WIMAX and as a service it is brilliant which most people of this forum will agree with! As for other service providers ( which I'm not sure if there are any) I'm not sure;)

The suggestion given was a good on - just for fun ask Telkom if they can or will give you VOIP with Wimax;)

Telkom is currently the only licensed provider of WiMax, so any company offering WiMax services other than Telkom is doing it illegally...

Telkom only/?

Why does Vodacom have a trial, and as far as I have read here, Mweb too? Have they not been granted licenses yet?

This gets more and more confusing lol

You are right that Telkom has own power and other providers can't provide otherwise it is illegal. Vodacom is not fully own but 50% to Vodacom and 50% to Telkom, read on news at http://www.busrep.co.za/index.php?fSectionId=553&fArticleId=3892270. It is sad news.

If Vodacom pays 50% to Telkom and get full 100% to Vodacom and Vodacom will change back to Vodafone, colour red is warm than cold blue.

Telkom brings SA Internet is really crap so far.

:-(
