I'm all out of ideas.

I have two Win 10 pcs - the one will read both original and CD/DVDs that I have burnt myself.

The newer system will only read original optical discs.

I've tried the various reg fixes, can't get it to read a home made cd ( which the other pc does read ).

I now have a client with the same problem on a new Win 10 laptop.

Has anyone figured out how to solve this ?

Thanks

IDE ATA/ATAPI controller

Delete and install the device and drivers and then restart pc .
it will detect the controller again and should resolve the issue.

Standard SATA AHCI controller i find work the best , some updated drivers seem to cause issue with writable disk . mine kept messing around when i was burning disks. that the drive would spin up and cause machine to become un responsive.

Do you still own VHS tapes too? :D Kidding. Never heard of this issue. Have you tried putting the CD player of the system that works in the system that doesn't? That could rule out make/model etc.

Is the data in any way copyright protected? Because some players have built in checks and balances for that specifically.
