HI All

I've been battling with a "Blue Screen of Death" error on my Windows 7 PC for over 6 months, and would really appreciate some help in fixing the problem.

The problem occurs about 2/3 times a day and occurs pretty indiscriminately.
The specific "Blue screen" error I get is "USB Bugcode".

I've tried updating USB drivers and re-installing windows, but makes no difference at all.
I've also run tests on the RAM, with no errors being found.

I've also noticed that at around the same time I also noticed the problem, I found that when I would move my laptop screen/lid up or down, I would hear the "USB inserted" noise, although no USB is currently plugged.

I think that this is somehow related to the problem, but have no idea how to properly diagnose.

Please help.....

Hi there,

Have you tried:
Installing the latest Chipset drivers?
Formatting and reloading Windows?
Booting into Safe Mode or a Hirens disc?

You will need to isolate if it is a hardware or software issue.
I suspect your Motherboard could be damaged.

Yes, Updated all drivers, and have re-installed windows (with all updates installed).

Haven.t yet tried to boot in Safe mode.

I would check if there is an updated BIOS available that may fix a possible bug.
Does it crash when using any of the USB ports, or just the onboard, or the front case connectors?

Would also like to know if pirate version or retail/OEM.

Not using any pirated software, all OEM.

The strange thing is that I have the problem without any USBs plugged in.

Have you examined the USB ports. Sometimes the inside connector breaks and can short out. If you notice damage inside a port, (and only if you see it has been damaged already) try to separate the contacts or even try to remove the loose contacts very carefully so you do not make the problem worse. Then tape over that port and never use it again.

That's what I think the problem is aswell.
Havent had the chance yet to open it up but think thats the next step.

You don't need to open up the computer. Just have a good look in the port, on the outside of the machine, use a bright light and magnifying glass if needed.
