Installed Win 7 last night and very very impressed. Starts up extremely fast and I can not even compare it to Vista.

I am currently dual booting with Vista until 7 is released. And i WILL buy it.

I do have some questions though:

Do I need to Install all applications again? eg. Firefox, Office, Photoshop, Games, Utorrent

I only partitioned 30GB for the installation. If I do need to install all the programs again, is that enough? Or should I expand the partition to about 50GB?

I did try and install Comodo Security and Firefox last night and both failed to work. Comodo does not start up automatically like it does on Vista and also fails to initialize the Firewall when started manually.
Firefox does not install at all. I start the setup and installation finishes, but when finished there is no Firefox installed and no icons or folders for it. Must I run all the setups in Vista Compatibility mode?

If I go to the Vista partition and open programs from there they do work but I am not sure if this is the correct way to do it. eg. Should I install Routesentry again or can I use the one on the Vista partition. I'm thinking registry problems is going to be a problem?

Please be patient with the noob questions.

All in all I am extremely happy so far. I just want to get rid of Vista for good.

You can run an in place upgrade of Vista, in which case you don't need to reinstall everything. Just be aware that there may be issues with older drivers, so take a full Vista backup so that you can revert if necssary.

the firefox installation is there, im guessing you used 32bit vista

in win7 you now have TWO folders for programs, all your 32bit apps will be in the (x86) folder.

Not answering the initial question, but I'm itching for Windows 7 to come on our shelves ...

Nope. I checked in there. Will try again tonight.

+1
I cannot wait to get rid of Vista. Yes it will be expensive but worth it.

To add. Win 7 found all my drivers except for the graphics card but Windows update also found that and installed it. And it did not find drivers for my card reader on the laptop. That is excellent.

A clean installation is always best IMHO. Which version of 7 are you using, 32 or 64 bit?

I have only installed Office 2007 and my games, the OS is fairly complete. CS4 also works fine, we have tested it on a W7 rig.

Not sure if utorrent is compatible. Something a lot of people use is Daemon Tools, however there are some issues with the RC1 version.
