I have been trying to load quite a few websites trying to get to information on Windows 7 and to the download link of the OS, but I keep on getting a "Server Busy" response or the site simply don't load. Microsft's Connect site times out since yesturday already, so I can only think that they experience a serious strain on their servers because of the Windows 7 beta release.

This is certainly a very big sign that alot of people have got very high hopes on the OS and alot of people have been waiting for this OS. I must also mention that I haven't heard or read anything bad about this OS, so I suppose that it is really a good operating system.

If I can only get my hands on a copy before the end of the day I would be really happy! I want to install it over the weekend.

If anybody has/gets the 64bit disc. Please pm. I really want to try this out.

+1 and the weekend is the perfect time to format and seeing as I have to do a format (been postponing to long now), I can just as well load Windows 7. If only I can get a copy in time. :p

Well if somebody in the Pta and Jhb areas would be willing to supply then it would also make it easier, but seems like nobody is prepared to share their copy! A few people in the Pta/Jhb area on this forum has got a copy but none want to share it...

Why the rush?

In the end you will have to use the FINAL product, you're just wasting your own time and risking getting your hopes smashed when they segregate the versions and features for the different licensing options.

It's like test driving a concept car ferrari and then expecting the released vehicle to be the same.

How long left till it's finished? What speeds are you getting?

On 4mbps and IS Fiber, got a max of 120kbps but average around 50kbps.Should be dow in another 12 to 14 hours.

I'm going to forget about it until tomorrow then it will be finished. Downloading the 64bit version.

I already have the 32bit version though.

You obviously don't use win 7 beta as your main os. You create a separate partition and dual boot.

Its fun testing out new things and then by the time the full product is available you have a better idea of what you want/expect.

Just a warning juggy. Remember to make your mp3's only readable before installing the 64bit version.

MP3 files
When MP3 files are added (either manually or automatically) to either the Windows Media Player or the Windows Media Center library, or if the file metadata is edited with Windows Explorer, several seconds of audio data may be permanently removed from the start of the file. This issue occurs when files contain thumbnails or other metadata of significant size before importing or editing them. To avoid this, take the following steps:

To protect your MP3 files
1. Before you install this Beta release, back up all MP3 files that might be accessed by the computer, including those on removable media or network shares.
2. Install the Beta release of Windows 7; then install this update (KB961367).

If you do not want to install the update, you can avoid this issue by setting all MP3 files that might be accessed by the computer to read-only before starting either Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center or before editing MP3 metadata with Windows Explorer. To do this, in Windows Explorer, find the files, right-click them, click the General tab, and then select the Read-only check box. Once you have installed the update, you can safely reset the read/write status of your MP3 files to your preference.

There is also a .exe file with extra drivers on it that I've downloaded.

So I'll have the following of build 7000

Windows 7 64bit with patch
Windows 7 32bit with patch
Extra driver installation package for x86/x64/IA64

So, then it ain't really an issue, cause most of us will run an windows update after an install.
