Win 7 SP1 Released 2011-02-22???

There is also a provision to order a DVD from Microsoft containing SP1 from here, but it is valid only for users living in U.S. or Canada.

Slack. 750 megs is going to take me a while.

Pfffft.... here too, Intellipoint downloads and installs at every login.

Going uninstall, then download + install latest Intellipoint. That should help.

Only screw-up of this service pack is that my Intellitype software (I've got a Microsoft Multimedia keyboard) wants to reinstall every time I login.

Thanks to Google, I see this is a worldwide problem & now waiting for fix from Microsoft.

where are you? Can't we get a copy to you somehow?

I'm planning on reformatting shortly and installing my Windows 7 again.

During the past few months I've had it, I've downloaded whatever update it asked for.

If I reinstall and simply get this SP1, will I have everything uptodate? Or do I need to get the 100 other little updates I've done - and then this SP1?

Just SP1. You will get just a handful of post SP1 updates. That's all. Service packs normally contain all updates prior to the service pack as well as one or two tweaks and some undreleased updates.

Interesting thing I discovered today... is that if KB971033 is not installed and you install Windows 7 service pack 1... KB971033 is till there after the SP1 update.

That means that KB971033 is not installed as part of SP1.

Good to know! :p

Am in a similar situation - is there a way to copy it off onto CD/DVD from its previous system location & then port it onto new installation!
Am not on ADSL - I get pissed of with MS for this!

Hey All...

What I have done in the past is copied the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution before formatting.. then done the whole install thing, then simply copied it back. Windows update then proceeds to install the updates from this location again rather than having to download them all again.

It has always worked for me, and should work, provided you have not deleted the downloaded update files to save some space....
