Win 98 Antivirus

yea even if its Linux... I mean upgrade to Ubuntu (Lunix) I am sure you will have a beter time with that then win 98

just don't connect it to the internet and you won't need an anti-virus.

It's for someone who uses an app that will only run on 98.

There is an xp version but thats a 10 grand spend.

It needs to connect via modem for EDI so has to go on the net now and then.

Really horrible working on it. :o

Why not upgrade the poor bugger to XP or VISTA and run the Windows 98 in a Virtual Machine enviroment? Makes sense if he is only using 98 for that 1 program. That way he can NAT the VM's network with the XP's Network and use an XP AV?

I second this, to me it makes more sense than continuing to run the package on an old computer.

The only problem comes in if the thing has been registered and is tied to the hardware on the old pc, transferring it will be a nightmare then.

Yeah, that could be a problem.

Ubuntu is relatively resource hungry (compared to 98)...however windows 98 IS a virus.

I just remembered that both Avast and Nod32 2.7 still run on Win98. Forgot about that when I posted my original post. However, I still think virutal machine is the best answer.
