Windows 10 extends its lead over Windows 7

It would be strange if W7 get growing considering its age / lack of places to purchase and that security updates end soon.

Numbers should shift a lot faster the closee we get to end of year. My uni shifted everything to W10 beginning of this year, same should be happening in other organizations.

It might help adoption if Windows 10 wasn't so expensive for the majority of consumers and businesses.

Win 10 should cost $20 or $30 directly from MS. Win 10 Pro could be $20 more. And then people wouldn't have to bother finding cheap sources to buy from.

Or better yet, include Windows 10 with Office 365. Having an entire OS be part of the sub makes it very unlikely people will cancel, which is good for MS. And consumers could hardly be bitter about a 'free' operating system that stays up to date.

1. All branded machines come with Win licence included.
2. Upgrade to Win 10 was free from any OS from Win7 up.
3. Lookup Microsoft 365 which includes the OS...

I completed my free upgrade to WIn10 from Win7 over the weekend. I just followed these instructions and it worked.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

The one thing I have which is a bug bear since I have moved over to Windows 10 is that although I have limited the amount of background items it can do it still must be doing something which is affecting my gaming performance, when I am gaming on European servers my latency is generally about 180 but then about 30 minutes into playing my latency jumps up to 210 for about 5 minutes and then it comes back down again. It does this a couple of times throughout my gaming sessions.

I thought Windows 10 was supposed to surpass Windows 7 for gamers. My experience so far in the last couple of days is that it sucks!

I upgraded for free the day Windows 10 publicly released, but that offer should have just stayed open forever. It's in Microsoft's interest to have as many users as possible migrated to the latest OS and for their adoption rates to be as high as possible.

And I get that preconfigured machines include Windows 10, but a large number of PC builders and upgraders are excluded from that. If MS can provide the upgrade for free, then they can also sell Windows 10 for, say, $20 and Windows 10 Pro for $40.

I'm aware of Microsoft 365. Office 365 Business Premium is a subscription I frequently recommend, as the value is pretty good for the desktop Office apps, 1TB OneDrive, 50GB cloud email & Microsoft Teams. Microsoft 365 incl. Windows 10 is for enterprise only as far as I'm aware. For home users though, nothing would incentivise sticking with Office 365 quite like your operating system license being tied to having an active sub. Would be a good move for MS.

Windows 10 simply put, is horrible.

Your comment, simply put, is factually incorrect.

Millions of people use and enjoy Windows 10, myself included. Every crappy Windows machine I've ever seen has had godawful hardware - if that's the boat you're in then run Linux instead.
