Try Mozilla Thunderbird. I haven't had any problems with it.

Perhaps you can describe the issues you are having and someone can help you resolve them.

Thanks for the responses. I have installed mailbird and it looks pretty good - however, there seems to be an issue sending mail. I am using smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net as per telkom site and cannot send mail, on Mailbird and Windows Mail.

So it appears to be a telkom issue as per RedVikings suggestion.

My username and password are correct as I can log on to telkom webmail. Issue seem to be with the email client.

I tried to help a friend with their Telkom mail. We spent hours trying to get it work (Outlook) , Telkom was also of no help and none of the details worked. The issue was also with outgoing mail. Eventually just gave up. Good luck!

You can also try

mail.saix.net or smtp.saix.net

I think Port 25 and No Authentication Required . Can't remember all the details.

Try also with port 587 (might need to enable SSL)

Worlds apart, try their free tier and if you're keen here's a 50% off link: https://www.getmailbird.com/pricing/?utm_source=mailbird&utm_medium=upgrade_popup&utm_location=ZA

I've installed Mailbird, it looks nice, BUT it seems there is no way to export the mail?
In Thunderbird I can just drag the mail from Thunderbird to a local folder.

This is an important feature for me because I store the emails in a folder as I receive them from a Client and then sync them to a server.
