Five updates within 4 weeks?

Come on Microsoft, get your QA sorted out. I have clients with very limited bandwidth who are being capped because of this.

Not good enough.

pebkac, always pebkac.

Why do you install the latest version when they are on limited bandwidth?

So, unless a Windows user is an MCSA they shouldn't use the OS?

I'm not sure that Microsoft would agree with you, otherwise why force umpteen million Windows 7 & 8 users to upgrade?

/Edit

In case you hadn't noticed, your reference doesn't apply to SL version.

The Professional, Enterprise, and Education editions of Windows 10 all have the “Defer upgrades” option. Windows 10 Home — the standard version of Windows 10 you’ll get on most new PCs — does not have this option. If you do really want this option, however, you can pay $99 to upgrade your Windows 10 Home PC to a Windows 10 Professional PC.

First, you can activate the defer updates option

Second, you can set your wifi as a "metered connection" so that updates are not being downloaded on your limited bandwidth.

Yes you can do stuff, if you are knowledgeable. If you are somebody, probably the greater majority of Windows users, you are not interested in fiddling with Windows settings, you simply expect it to work consistently and probably cannot see the need for updates to be downloaded every few days, especially when each update includes all its predecessors.

Microsoft needs to be more professional.

Or route windowsupdates.microsoft.com (and all derivatives thereof) to 127.0.0.1 at firewall level?

I guess that that is a possibility, but a bit self defeating and it would take more IT knowledge than most of those effected would be capable of.

No, Microsoft needs to take cognizance of the existence of the insider option for those wanting up to the millisecond status. For the greater unwashed once a month is more than enough.
