I have a 14month old laptop, it serves its purpose for varsity and loose coding.

I have a HP G61 Laptop, and the Windows keeps telling me that i should replace the battery I lose about 10% charge every 20minutes, ie my battery lasts just over 2hours give or take (which is terrible but its ok for my situation)

Now I havnt felt a noticable difference in battery life decrease as of yet but do you think that I should buy a new battery? they are kinda expensive ;P

There are a couple of companies in SA that will take the battery pack, open it and replace the individual cells inside. You save on the packaging and charging circuit costs. Google for laptop battery repack in South Africa

I'm curious, what do you mean by this? Usually Li-Ion reach their end of life wrt cell charge/disharge cycles and the they are kaput.

Found this online shop, they sell replacement batteries for ~R500 http://www.vexon.co.za/Accessories/Battery-Cells-Accessories.html

Dunno if any are in your area but you can always do a google search for someone closer to you. Graham from akita comes highly recommended.

You can also try http://www.laptopaccessories.co.za/ or http://spl.co.za/ for new replacement battery prices.

bruce_the_loon answered your question wrt the details of what it involves.
