Windows 7 Release Date

Hey guys,

Anyone know if Windows 7 will be released this year or next year?

My PC is a bit screwed up and I've decided to do a backup and reinstal the OS's. I run Vista dual Booting with Ubuntu. I am replacing Ubuntu with the latest version so I don't know whether to wait for Windows 7 or just reinstall Vista in the interim.

Well the RC is due May 5th, very soon after the Beta was released, so I assume it will be here quite a while before the end of '09.

it looks as if it should be released later in the year but i'm not sure.

RC1 just came out (i've got it) so final release not that far away

It will still be a good few months away - I reckon Oct, but thats a pure guess.

Dec they reckon but you can get windows 7 already, just punkbuster does not work but single player games work well.

New builds are being leaked regularly and RC has been on the torrent for the past two weeks atleast (Build 7077 is RC). From what I have read/heard, Windows 7 will be released to OEM channels by late 2009 and retail version will hit the shelves by the end of Q1 2010.

Also worth noting is that the beta keys used on RC builds expire on 02-03-2010, I believe the retail version will be available around the time beta keys expire.
