I haven't read the threads on here (too many pages ...) but when are they intending to release Windows 7?

I need to get a newer PC (with Vista) - but if Windows 7 is due soon, I may a well buy a new PC/Windows 7 when it's out.

Also, I hear it's better performance than Vista. Does this means if my PC can handle Vista alright, it'll more than handle Windows 7?

The Beta Version has just been released and will expire in August 2009.

However the actual launch of Windows 7 will in all probability only be in the 1st quarter of 2010.

My guys would be round June/July. MS said that there will be only 1 beta (which is out now), so that leave them with only a RC (release candidate) and then RTM. If they spend about three months in each phase (Beta and RC) then they might go RTM by June/July. There is nothing official from them however. I would wait for Win7 if I were you!

There is going to be a upgrade program I heard. So if you buy Vista after a certain time you can upgrade to Win 7 for a good price.

There's guys on here running W7 on Celeron 1.7 PC's. I wouldn't worry about power.

I'm sure MS would like to get it out in time for christmas this year, and with a relatively stable feature complete beta already out a year before Q4 09 that should be possible.
