Windows 7 sharing violation

Hi all,

I've scoured the web and this site to see if there's a solution but all the pages I've read seem to relate to a slightly different problem from mine. The basic issue is that I'm intermittently getting a sharing violation error message when I try to save files.

I'm *not* running TrendMicro OfficeScan (which seems to be everyone else's problem). I'm having the problem not just in Microsoft Office 2007 but also in Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. I suspect it would happen in any application but I use those products most heavily.

It's driving me nuts - certain files do it almost every time I try to save (which is constantly - literally every few seconds when I'm working on a new site and want to tweak the CSS and test the results). The key there is "almost" every time - if it happened consistently then I'd know there's a real problem.

The file I'm struggling with today was created in Windows 7, not XP, and is on my local machine, not a network.

I have tried disabling my NOD anti-virus Microsoft Office document scanner; still does it. I have tried taking the User Account Control security down to Never Notify; still does it.

If anyone has any other bright ideas, PLEASE tell me! I'm desperate for an answer! :crying:

Thanks!

not sure if it is related... but I also get a BSOD sometimes when copying files over the network or to my USB drives. I heard that it is a bug in Windows 7.

But the one thing you can check is... are you using any Virtual Drives? There is a virtual device driver which is known to conflict with Windows 7 File Copy.

Nope, that isn't my problem, but thanks for the suggestion.

One thing I have discovered today is that Firefox is causing problems with Dreamweaver testing by keeping the files open, so that it genuinely *is* a sharing violation when Dreamweaver tries to save the file. I've now closed Firefox each time after testing the page and it is better, but I'm still experiencing the problem. But at least it's only every 2 minutes now instead of every second. Let's be thankful for small mercies. LOL!
