windows 7 - ultimate password reset

g'day mybb

an old lady i know through her baking of pancakes at our local shopping center (sp abzo ?) asked me a question today..... she bought a pc from a guy with win7 Ultimate. it worked fine, but when she switched it on last night it started asking for a password at log-on. she doesn't have an install CD for the PC.... i downloaded something called isunshare or whatever it's called to burn something to usb to help, but the test fails on my PC..

what is the best way to recover her password, this afternoon.....

You can't recover the password. What you can do do is reset/remove it.

Download the Hiren's ISO. Boot with it. Reset/remove password.

Of course you can recover or simply view the administrator or any user password.

To be used by any layman:

Write ophcrack LiveCD (with tables) to any CD/DVD, put into the machine, boot and bang, you have all the usernames/passwords.

Or do the suggestion made by Slab.

Hiren's boot CD have a live windows password reset utility.
