Hey guys,

I connect to the net using my wifi card - Netgear WG311T. I've just taken the plunge and installed windows 7 - One thing i've noticed is how much my wifi signal has decreased (quite a bit of packet loss - making gaming a no no - this has to be driver related - in XP I was using the Atheros based driver set (32 bit xp) and these worked beautifully.

In Win 7 I am now using Netgear drivers (default drivers on install) - anyone know of any Atheros 64 bit drivers for Win 7? The default drivers it installs look to be dodge :(

Thanks in advance.

J

I'm using the "Atheros AR5005GS Wireless network adapter", it's the default MS driver for my device and works perfectly.

Running Windows 7 64bit.

Thats what I am using now - Default win7 drivers - I was just wondering if there was anything a bit better as I can see my wifi has taken a huge knock, before reboot with XP I had no packet loss and now I have lots of packet loss and ping times for local have shot up from 30 odd ms to like 300-800ms and my other pc's connected are fine - so its not my connection.

Thanks
J

Just installed the 64 bit Atheros drivers:

ar5211.sys
net5211

No packet loss since then - not 1 packet dropped as opposed to about 1 in every 5 dropping with the default install drivers.

Sigh @ Windows - so shiny yet dissapointing me already :(

Thanks
J

Mine is version 2.0.0.72, not sure if the newer revision makes any difference but I have not had any problems.

Where did you get those? I reverted back to WIN XP / Vista 64 bit Atheros I had lying around from when I had XP 64 bit and those are working fine.

I'm running RC1 - 64 bit - 7100 build.

Thanks
J

They are the default drivers(unless they where updated via the auto updates), also running the same build.
