Windows 7 x32 to x64

Ive bought new computer of Intel i7..2.5gb of vga graphics card .. 6 gb of ram etc...
and the windows i got on it is x32 says that i am only using 3gb of ram..... can i change the windows to x64 or something?its windows 7 ultimate
 
only if you completely reformat. They are fundamentally different operating systems and you can't upgrade.

Just use the 64 bit disc and boot from it and do a clean install.

The 64 bit will allow you to use the full amount of RAM... and it's great, I have not had much issues with program compatibility.

Microsoft really nailed it with this 64 bit OS.
 
Unlikely the new comp came with both disks - I would complain to the shop where you bought it if the OS isnt supporting the specs
 
they told me physically the 6gb r working but it will show that only 3gb are working

that's like saying "I have eight tyres on my car (four in the boot), but only four of them are in use" the other four are effectively useless to you.

ask them to swap the disc for you... or download a 64 bit version and use your same license key to install it.
 
My copy of Win 7 came with both flavours (home premium). Like Gary said just use the same key on the 64 bit version, can't see why it shouldn't work.

Then go out and buy lots of RAM :D

First check if all the apps you need to run can run in 64bit, I know some older games has issues. There is also a few apps out there that will have problems. Then think if you really need more than 4GB of ram.

You can run them in WinXPMode provided they do not need to direcly address hardware
 
It depends on if the windows 7 is retail or OEM...

Sound like the shop sold you OEM in which case the con'd you... Not all OEM 32-bit key can be used with 64 bit... all retail keys can be used with both..

Don't you just love Microsoft's licencing policies?
 
I can't believe a PC shop would sell you a machine with 6GBs of RAM running a 32-bit OS!?! Mindblowing. People like this should be named and not be in business.
Unless it wasn't a prebuild from the shop. Did you get the components and build the machine yourself, and then buy a copy of 32bit Win7?
