Windows 8.1 Update download?

I think the problem with the current ISO at MS is that it does not support Windows 8.1 Single Language. I have sent you a PM.

Yes, and copying that Temp folder does not work either.

It's the right temp folder... it has the Windows 8.1 update in it - the one I used to update the first laptop.
But the moment I copy it to the second laptop it again pops up and wants an installation key.
And when I put the installation key that was found using Belarc, it says "This key will not work with this version of Windows".

So the only way to do the 8.1 update is to re-download it on every single damn machine.

@Garyvdh, you seem to have missed a crucial part of the procedure, you must use a generic Windows 8.1 product key when asked, and then afterwards you activate with the original Windows 8 key that Belarc showed.

I think Gary is trying to upgrade laptops preloaded with Windows 8 Single Language (which is being loaded on almost all entry level machines).

The ISO on MS website does not support this version in Windows 8.1. However, I know that the Windows 8.1 Single Language version is available. Without posting any links, Google can help:

Yes, simply use Microsoft's default keys, also available when doing a search to start the installation. After installation, simply change the key in Settings back to the Bios key and activate the system online.

It's quite ridiculous that one has to jump through all kind of loopholes to avoid the ClickOnce install. I noticed the same problem with Office 2013 where the download takes ages to complete.

Agreed. I cannot understand why MS just can release a simple upgrade ISO that will work on all versions of Windows 8. They offer it for free but are forcing people into piracy just to upgrade their systems for free. I have 4 laptops at home which needed upgrading, it is ridiculous to download the OS 4 times! Let alone the upgrades I did for a few clients...

It's almost like Microsoft has scaled down the functionality because it's a free upgrade. BTW, I upgraded three of my own machines but have already did a clean install on two of them because of some peculiar issues, aiming at re-installing the other PC also.

I just gave up and surrendered that I would have to waste over 13 Gigs of bandwidth and several hours to update these computers :(

I can really give you the Windows 8.1 SL disc if you want to try it...

Do have a download link if needed. Can't post it here though. Already pm'd to Gary yesterday as well.

Hi. Please can you pm me the link? I have already updated my laptop to 8.1 when it was released. But it took me the best part of 2 days to reinstall my original recovery and then do the update through MS update!
I have the pre-release ISO and generic key that was available, but it cannot be activated to the final version on SL.
If I ever want to reset my laptop the DVD will save me lots of time and trouble :)

Please can someone post the link as my valid serial key is not working on the download site.

This would make things a lot easier at work -_- instead of doing pc by pc!

Your assistance will be appreciated.

I would also appreciate a link for the Pro 64bit update. Windows Store won't show the update for me so can't even do it that way.
