I recently got my self an ssd, installed windows 8 rtm with ahci on, and have been running it fine for a while now. All of a sudden though, ahci stopped working, and I've been forced to boot up in ide mode ever since. There is very little info on the web, I've tried a few registry hacks claiming that will fix it, to not avail. Why is windows being so difficult? I feel like punching the software engineer in the face for making ahci mode so anal on windows. I recently did a light overclock on my cpu, and round about the time I did that, it seemed to stop ahci. That being said, it was round about that time, not the exact day I did the overclock, so I don't see how that could change anything.

Can any one shed some light on why this may be, and how I can recitfy it? My motherboard is a 990fxa-d3 gigbyte, so its using amd controllers.
