We're talking of a way different time-frame here. Even if Windows 8 only reaches us in 10 years, short of a MAJOR technological revolution, you'll still be well within the limits of a 64-bit architecture.

If we assume moore's law applies to memory, we'll go from around 16GB to 512GB in 10 years.

32-bit gave us 4GB, only 7 of the other 32 bits would be enough to get us to 512GB.

Even at double the rate of moore's law, we'll still use only 14 of the 32 bits. 4x would mean 28 of 32 bits.

I'm not talking about what 'should be enough', I'm talking about what we're likely to be able to get in a realistic time-frame.

Hahaha, I reckon this is a marketing stunt. How any anyone prove or disprove the 128 bit thing if there are no hardware available yet - and there probably wont be in the foreseeable future. They may just have well have said that Win8 will have a 10000000000 bit version.

As per wikipedia, 64bit can address up to 16.8 million terabytes of memory. a 128 bit can address 281,474,976,710,656 yobibytes - "that amount greatly exceeds the total data stored on Earth".

Yep, I dont see this happening anytime soon. Especially not within the next 10 years. They just want bragging rights...
