Windows 8 to be 128-bit

He describes himself as: “Working in high security department for research and development involving strategic planning for medium and long-term projects. Research & Development projects including 128bit architecture compatibility with the Windows 8 kernel and Windows 9 project plan.”

Could be nice but is it realy worth the trouble? Because everyone must buy new cpus then that supports 128bit and all the companies must make new drivers for 128bit. I think they must wait atleast another 5years before trying to go to 128bit. I like 64bit, i rather need something to double my gpu performance
 
hmmm.. its a bit too early for 128bit, they rushing now.

And how are they going to develop a 128bit OS when 128bit is not available yet?

Considering that 128-bit isn't even on the Intel or AMD CPU roadmaps yet, this is either a case of Microsoft knowing something that the rest of the world doesn't, or just another rumour.
 
Altho there is no mention of wen this is supposedly being developed for. So it mite be at least 4 years before we see this OS, by which time there could be demand for 128 bit. They could always release 64 and 128 bit versions, which in 4 years should be accessible to virtually everyone.
 
well i guess the point is that its not "at this time"

they're planning for years in the future - with the rate at which technology in computers in advancing, its not that unfeasible that in 4 years time there'll be a demand for it.

agreed... i've still to use a 64 bit operating system.:erm:
 
The way I read that is not that Windows 8 will be 128 bit, but that they're figuring out ways of making the Windows 8 kernal compatible with a 128bit architecture... so very possibly figuring out some types of wrapper or something, or just seeing if it will work at all.
 
People, there are no 128-bit CPU's on the market and there won't be in the near future.

Hopefully they'll also look at the whole security model as well. The problems being fixed in Win7 was also fixed in Win98. The same problems all over again.
