On a local network I can't access a PC (win 2003) by typing in \\server IP address and get "network path was not found". However I can ping and remote desktop into that PC.

Anyone know why?

I can access another server typing in \\that server IP so it must be some setting that I don't know about.

My pc is not on the same domain so I can access \\server IP from another PC on the domain but not from my PC.

Make sure that you have enabled file and printer sharing, otherwise you won't be able to see it through \\PC.

It is enabled and no firewall is on my PC or on the server.
I can access the share from a PC on the domain but not from my PC which isn't on the domain which I want to be able to access from.

Not being on the domain means you won't be authenticated, which is why you can't access. You could map a drive to the PC by using the log in as a different user and then logging in with you domain account.
