windows desk top search

Google Desktop anyone? :D

Can anyone name one original idea Microsoft has ever had?

Google Desktop is utterly useless ... it only indexes the first 10,000 characters of a file.

would just like to say i have had no issues with this desk top search. One little bug was outlook 2007 had a bit of a wobbly (even though it recommended i download it) but all is well and dang it is not bad.

one thing that completely blew my mind was when i told it to search the web it used google :P

dunno why cuz i have not configured it yet.

Internet Explorer 7 also has the default search engine set to Google, so it doesn't really surprise me. In fact, I feel it's about time that Microsoft recognises that Google is infinitely more popular than MSN.

ah okay... seems even M$ are seeing the light.

That are good news.

When they start including FF in windows vista 2009 sp32 then we know they have seen the light :D

I upgraded to IE7 and didn't configure it so I am interested how yours came default with Google search.
He probably went to Google and it detected IE7 and asked if he wanted to change to Google as his default search provider ... just have to click on yes.

Aaah that could explain it. I thought I was missing something :D

No, I didn't. I downloaded and installed a corporate beta release of IE7 (I couldn't install the normal beta since I run a volume license corporate edition of Windows XP) which chose Google by default and it stayed like that when I upgraded to the final release of IE7.

Something I may have done differently was uninstalling IE6 first, but I can't think how that would affect my default search engine. I also had various Google products installed on my PC prior to installing IE7 which may have changed the setting without my knowledge.
