A friend of mine installed a 9-series Nvidia PCI-express card but all he gets is a black screen after the windows boot logo.

With the card installed, it does boot into safe mode

Removing the graphics card allows it to boot normally.

BIOS has been reset to optimized default.

OS - XP 64 bit.

i'm stumped:confused:

Boot up your PC in safe mode. Once you in there install the drives for your graphics card and it should be fine.

When you put your pc on hit the F8 button.

are you using the drivers that came with the card from the card manufacturer? or have you downloaded the latest 64bit drivers from nvidia?

You can also try VGA Enabled mode....

F8 before Windows loads, select VGA Enabled mode.....

Install new drivers from within Windows....

What vga card is it? What power supply are you using?

Have you connected the power into the card?
