Windows drives me mad

Have you tried Gimp on Linux as an alternative to Photoshop?

Yes, I am actually more comfortable using Gimp than Photoshop, however, it's InDesign I need, and I am doing work for an external company, who use InDesign, so I can't switch to Scribus.

Tass why don't do you what aqua does and run it virtually man.

Aqua does not use windows apart from gaming i think.

An option, however, I using fairly old technology which would struggle under virtualisation. Also, I am using two monitors, which I have been able to set up under virtual box (is it possible) - I haven't tried all that hard.

Yea that is cause most people did not really do much research, vista needs a good pc to run really well and i can tell you my q9550 4 gb memory and SSD ran vista so well, vista was a pleasure compared to xp.

I stayed with vista because my biggest problem with xp was that dr watson crap when my corel and photoshop apps would just randonly close for no reason and i get that dr watson BS. Vista worked and was far more stable than xp.

Windows 7 though is just the best microsoft OS ever made i reckon.

The problem is that not everyone has a top of the range PC, most PCs sold are pretty entry level, and not everyone has the option of spending a fortune on a new PC.

From what I have seen of 7, I have to agree that it will be the best. I still think the underlying architecture of Windows is quite badly flawed, so there is a limit to how good a platform Windows can be.

Well your opinion may change if you use windows 7 dude. The thing is if you want a fast pc you need to invest money into it. You cannot expect to buy a bottom end machine and expect a fast pc. Although windows 7 does pretty darn well with a bottom end pc i must admit.

To me it flies, i have loaded it on celeron's and it ran better than xp did on the same setup. Windows 7 will change your mind about windows in general and it has changed many people's minds.

You need to experience windows 7 to truly understand how good it is in my opinion. It has received rave reviews world wide, something vista failed to do from day one.
