MS must seriously bring new faces to the company that gives the consumer the impression they're dealing with fresh exciting products/prospects here. The shareholders should demand it. We need Bart, not Homer.

Yeah but that's what Sinofsky was. Him and J Allard were the only hope for MS for me :/

Allard yes. Sinofsky, nope. There are rumours that Sinofsky was behind Allard's departure and that the wheel turned ...

The more things change the more they stay the same....MS will stay the overpriced, over complicated, under developed OS it is...Sinofsky or no Sinofsky

That's a useful article. It pretty much sums up what I'm getting at here. Microsoft desperately needs a (perhaps polarizing) visionary who intuitively gets what customers want before they know themselves, and has the uncompromising vision to execute on the detail needed to produce world-class hardware. They cannot afford at this time to bet on synergy; synergy for Microsoft has always meant mediocrity, compromise, design-by-committee, and confusion at the customer end. Win8 is a perfect example of what happens when you allow 'synergistic' voices to design a single OS; not one clear vision emerges and the result is a half baked etiolated version of what could have been.
