Hey guys.

I just took of windows on one of my partitions on my Hd.
Its a sata 320g with a 25g partition for windows.

NOw when I try install it from the cd it says that it is not a correct partition for windows?

I have no clue what to do. I have tried it on my pata drive and it worked. Any clues on how to maybe rectify this would me awesome!

Thanks so much
Cheers!

If you're booting from the XP cd then you'll need the SATA chipset drivers. If you put your motherboard driver cd in in Windows, the autorun program should have an option somewhere to copy the SATA drivers to a stiffy for you. Then when you boot from the XP cd, right at the start you have the option to push F8 (I think) to load 3rd party drivers. It might be able to load the drivers off another device, though I haven't tried it?

edit: Just remembered that you can boot off some of the motherboard cd's, load drivers, then run the windows setup... been a while since I've installed brand new hardware :D

It picks the drives up no problem. It just wont let me format it whilst in the windows screen. Ive done windows around 20 times but have never ever seen this before?

Is just so odd???

Well its in the blue screen.

The thing is it wont let me format the drive from the initial blue screen. there is no other option.

Im sad :(

Ok i just out the sata one back in and it gives me this..

windows root\system32\hal.dll not found

It's possibly trying to boot from the sata drive. The installation changed the boot sector to load Windows, but it never managed to install Windows...

try unplugging all other hard drives when you boot from the cd?

format the entire drive as that prt maybe be corrupt

always try and keep your windows hdd sep, as in have a dedicated hdd to windows

I know what the problem.
listen do this plug the cable out from ther pc power.leave it out for 10 mins for the caps to discharge.
Then plug out sata cables from mobo and back in,then put the power plug in and you good to go.

listen bite me dont disturb me when i am thinking ok.....just kidding man, listen you might be right man,You are a genius man.i think i will do the same with this customers pc i have here.
