Windows is now less vulnerable than OS X and Linux

Which has always been windows, therefore 99% of all malware is created for windows. If it was OSX, OSX would be the OS with the most malware. Anybody should be able to grasp that very basic piece of logic.

Which is why the percentage of high vulnerabilities is important.

Still not the point. Windows in its totality needs to be represented as a total amount, because they've presented the other operating systems in that way.

100% in agreement. In the MS news article, they did break it down as indicated on the graph:

When you look at the top operating systems by vulnerabilities reported in 2014, Apple Mac OS X and Apple iOS comes at top. Microsoft’s latest OS Windows 8.1 is now at 8th position, which is great.

Does it bother you that much that Windows has the least vulnerabilities? Just look at the low risk vulnerabilities then.

Um, it doesn't, not to anyone that can comprehend the basic aspects of a table. All they've done is separate the versions of Windows.

And what sort of logic suggests that Windows having no low-risk vulnerabilities is a good thing? That's bad. Each variant of Windows has a greater proportion of its vulnerabilities as high compared to the other operating systems.

You assume that all the Windows vulnerabilities are unique to the OS version, the table came from a MS news site it makes sense that it split the versions to indicate that Windows 8.1 being the latest is the 'best'.

Im not sure, they split up those versions of windows to pad their stats. If you combine them all, windows is still the most insecure.

Yup, the answer is marketing. Of course there is a sucker born every minute and most of them use Windows. Interestingly enough this nice propaganda piece has been selectively edited from the original propaganda piece which show the most vulnerable applications that lists Internet Explorer as the most vulnerable - it is almost 2x the next highest which is Chrome. This matches quick closely with the stats if you add up all the windows vulnerabilities which is over 2x more than Linux and almost 2x more than Mac.

Sorry marketing department - go to fail.

Ahh yes but I still feel I'm at more risk using a windows based PC compared to a linux/Mac based one. And don't be fooled i'm a full time windows user for years
