i7 920 6GB and a Winfast TV200XP Expert TV Card (Win7)

Updating my iPod rendered the TV stutters.

Yet when I do the same under Linux, everything is smooth.

I guess it goes to show that despite the huge numbers that MS has as users, efficiency is not what MS chases.

In Linux, even when running Windows apps through Wine, the performance on my TV card is multiples better.

OK, my turn:

Haiti is the best place in the world to live in.

See, I can make up stuff too. Your problem could be caused by many different things: drivers, the program you are using etc etc. Saying "my TV card is slow therefore Windows is bad at multi-tasking" is ludicrous and the most ignorant statement today so far (although it's only 7 o'clock so who knows). It should be perfectly smooth even with a pretty ancient PC, something is definitely wrong.

With logic like that you might want to consider going into politics

A tad unfair to tarnish the entire Windows OS as crap at multitasking when you cannot have an iPod transfer and stutter-free tv on a single machine using a 2004 card that gave problems in Vista because of outdated drivers ?

Perhaps you should have said " Winfast TV200XP Expert TV Card crap under Win 7 when using iPod"...

Change the card methinks for a true Win 7 compatible one and problem solved, or don't use Windows and keep the whine for Linux.

Till recently I felt the same as milomak, cos my new Core i3 with Windows 7 64-bit was just not running smoothly.

Fortunately I have been running Windows 7 on an Intel Quad Core at work - and it was lightning fast - so I knew something is wrong. And there was. It turns out my super-duper Asus wifi PCI Express card is a piece of crap. The moment I removed it and replaced it with a D-Link wifi card, all my problems disappeared. Hooray!!

I'm running the 64-bit version with 8GB RAM & it rocks my socks off. I felt a bit nostalgic and installed "The Orange Box" (Half Life 2, Episode 1 & 2) + Steam account on my pc again & it's running so smooth! Also, my wireless keyboard and mouse works much better with Windows 7 than with Windows XP. Even iTunes is running fast for a change & quick to sync my iPhone.

I can honestly say that I've never been happier with an OS than with Windows 7.

Oh, and Windows 7 64-bit handles all 32-bit apps like a champ, I don't even know which is 32-bit & which are true 64-bit.

Only way I know I'm still running a lot of 32-bit apps, is when I open up Task Manager and see a lot of *32 at the end of each active app.
