Once again hellos'

I decided to install windows live mail to manage my email accounts today, and it is a nice simple program

Something that is bugging me though is that when my pc is on its always playing music (at least when Im there anyways) and therefore I dont always hear the notification noise. I went looking around the net a bit for a plugin that will make a visual effect (yes i know, some lame gimmicky thing) when I get an email but was unlucky in my search.

Is there a more recommended client to use which has this feature and more built into it, or is there a plugin that adds this feature to windows live mail?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
I know its possible to set the sync interval on windows live messenger to a rather low setting, if I set this to its lowest (1min) will it use a fair amount of cap?

I don't know about the visual pop up part, as I've never made use of Windows Live Mail (I use full blown Outlook)

Concerning the sync interval though, it won't use a lot of cap. If the mail server on the other end is POP3 based, all it is doing is sending a few instructions along with your username and password, so unless it gets mail, those checks will kb in size. With IMAP, the usage may be slightly higher, as it has to sync more than one folder.
