Hi All

I hope you guys can help me.

I'm unable to connect to Windows Live Messenger 2011 using my Cell C connection. I get the following error: "Error 8100030d: Cannot Sign-in to Windows Live Messenger"
When connected using Vodacom , it works fine.

I've uninstalled and re-installed WLM but still no luck.

Does Cell C somehow block Windows Live Messenger? Do they need to activate something on their side?

Thanks in advance.

msn, gtalk, icq work fine for me.
Tried diff apps including the im specific apps & trillian.
The only problem i have is u cannot send or receive files with any of them.
Anyone else experience same?

Probably because of this.
It might depend who you are talking to, in some protocols it will work as long as one you can have incoming connections.

Which version of MSN are you using and on which OS? I'm using Windows Live Messenger 2011 on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Gtalk and Skype both work fine. It's just MSN can't connect.

Like I said, connecting via Vodacom it works fine. It's bizzare!!!

Just an update

I've uninstalled the latest version Windows Live 2011 and installed and Windows Live 2009 and it works fine now.

Don't know whats wrong with the latest release.

My BF is having this problem ... I will get him to check what version he is on.

Let us know if it also worked for him ... I'm sure Cell C needs to do something on their side to allow access to Windows Live Messenger 2011.

Got the same problem, only my WLM 2011 connects if the USB dongle is connected directly but if I try to run through a 3G router I get the 8100030d error and the same thing if I try ICS.
Im using a netgear WTRN3000 router and dont think its the router as all other IMs such as skype, yahoo, and trillian work which im using as a live messenger replacement at the moment.

Have you compared the settings under tools settings advance, maybe 2011 is using a different port to connect, there is also a connection test with a log maybe in the log you will get a better understanding of whats going wrong.
