For some reason, I just can't install Windows Live Messenger. I managed to download the Installer from the website, but during the install, this happens.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm running Vista.

Is your copy of Vista fully updated? You may need some files or something, what do you get if you click "get help with this"?

Short answer: Get rid of Vista

By now we all know, when there's a Vista thread, one of the replies will be, get rid of Vista.

It's getting tired at the moment. If you can't suggest a helpful response, there's no use to keep on saying get rid of Vista, uninstall Vista, throw away Vista...........

Took the words right outta my mouth there tera. IPeople just love jumping on the Vista hate bandwagon and all it proves is how clueless they really are.

Clueless... I think not.

I used vista, and it didn't work out. So speaking from experience there. I have serious issues with Vista for very valid reasons. I could waste a lot of forum bandwidth with my sad stories but at the end of the day we provided both customers with XP licenses because Vista was too slow and kept hanging. That was the end of that and no more unhappy clients.

Off-topic [rant on]
Both of you (teraside & feo)have a track record on this forum and other forums of attacking people who go "against the grain" or disagree with you. I was warned before I commenced posting on this forum regarding both of your behaviours. However it is important to realise that you typify the typical SA IT Administrator mindset and attitude and in that case I fully and completely disregard everything you say from now on, on this forum and any other forum on the internet. I am firstly neither afriad of either of you, and secondly I will not entertain your comebacks.

I established a successful IT company on the principles of solid service, good advice and not becoming a microsoft fanboy or being an arsehole like many SA IT admins are. I don't have time for either of you [rant off]

Back on topic though...

It might be worth a try to use a different client to communicate with others on Windows Live messenger. An associate of mine does it that way because of problems with Vista.

I'm sorry. But get your facts straight.

You made a few assumptions and labelled both me and feo as "attackers", and you've been warned about us? Excuse me?

Ask any of the other 30000 members if I ever and I mean EVER attack anyone. It's not my style.

I don't aim to make "comebacks" either and I could care less if you liked me or not.

The point is, in each thread where there is a pc problem and the operating system is Windows Vista, the only responses to it is, Get rid of Vista. It's tired, it's old and it's very unhelpful.

So you have a company, good for you. I'm a schizo, did you know that? A bit of pointless information we share with each other.

Before accusing us of being attackers and hearing about it through the grapevine, get your facts straight. We try to help we where we can, if we can't, we won't post stupid responses.

Edit: just to prove my point. Could you kindly post all links and URL's of other forums where I attacked people? As far as my knowledge goes I'm part and active on 2 forums, I see them as I type this, would be interesting to meet this other teraside,

I'll try to keep this post as toned down as I can because I have a pretty short temper and all I'll be doing is getting myself infracted for no good reason.

I'm only active on this forums and haven't been posting on other SA forums for a while (PCFormat might've been the last SA forum I've been active on). I am however an active member on a few other international forums that have more technically minded people than here (no offense to anyone here) and quite frankly, there's a TON that can be learnt from them.

I don't profess to know every single thing possible about Vista but I've seen myth after myth about this OS clinically debunked and put to bed by people better than myself and the only reason people struggle with it is because they do not do their homework beforehand.

Like tera, I'm sick to death of all the mindless rantings about Vista. Your post was in NO WAY helpful to the OP, all it was was a quick one-liner that had no substance and basically all you did was label yourself as a "hater". :D

I'm glad to know that I'm well-known on the interwebz though.
