Hey guys, making my way to RAGE this year and I was hoping I could get some tips on how to lockdown my PC?

What I mean is I want to password protect as much as possible, and make it as hard as possible for the clever geeks out there to be able to get to my sensitive data (no not porn)... :)

Any advice?

Go buy a hard drive or two, install windoze on them, and the games you are taking, leave everything else in your safe at home.

Thanks for the help...
1. I do not have any file shares - so disabling should not be necessary?
2. Will probably install windows on another (older) drive anyway just to be safe.
3. NO it is not porn! :D It is ISO's of illegal software which I got from a friend on this forum! ;)
4. Windows firewall - if I activate it will it not impact on my gaming?

Slayer, you going to rage?

Disable the server service maybe, or firewall as much as possible (make sure file and print sharing is not allowed)

Man, just get a second hard drive, install windows, load your software, and keep your original hard drive safe at home.

If somebody should hack your PC, then you won't need to reinstall your windows.

Or use Linux.

and then play what games against other people? chess in VMWARE mode :p

Make a reeeeally long and complex admin password and user passwords for all your profiles is a start. Install Comodo or Zonealarm too

Try and play Crysis on that :D...

Last year I used Windows Firewall and Avira and I had no problems. Was even filesharing with DC++.

If you truly are that that desperate for protection I suppose using TrueCrypt on sensitive information and the use of a strong password for your PC.

Test your password on this site: http://howsecureismypassword.net/

Like hell I'm typing passwords into that thing.

What do you think it will do, try and ask you for your usernames and email addresses that it doesn't ask for... Forgot to mention it's more for testing.

Reference link for it was

NOTE: For the sake of security, we'd strongly recommend constructing fake passwords for testing purposes rather than using your actual password. Consider the site an interesting exercise about how adding a few characters and symbols to your password can increase its security. You can never be too paranoid about security!
