My hauppauge remote kit came with a little black box which houses an ir receiver and two plugs for the IR transmitter beans. Have you tried a different plug for the transmitter bean ? Perhaps your transmitter bean is stuffed, I once pinched the cable (which is rather thin) in some trunking and it actually broke it. Try a different bean, if you can.

A windows media center is a really cool device, but a takes effort to set up.

Hi Mier,

I build a PC, so dont have a MCE case that I use. as for the Hauppauge card, I use the USB external one. It is the HVR-1900.
I decided to go for the remote control kit. It works exceptionally well in MCE, but this infernal SD PVR and its remotes is driving me insane.

I think I must boot it and maybe go for the baby HD PVR and be done with it.

No I can understand why one would want a media centre HTPC (I have one), I also have a HD PVR. Even if I had an SD PVR I would find it easier to go use it directly rather going through the HTPC. Using the extender, can you watch the TV input in another room?

Yes, live TV and all recorded content (and of course all other media- e.g.music, movies etc.)
I have an extender in my bedroom (xbox360), it's the only way I can watch tv since I only have an ethernet cable installed.

Just be aware that changing channels on the baby PVR from MCE is also not perfect. The best I could get is about 80-90% accuracy. Sometimes multiple digits are registered by the decoder causing the channel change to fail. I'm now considering a second single-view decoder, set up with Xtraview to the HD PVR, as a dedicated decoder for the Media Center. This could be a solution for you as well, and much cheaper than the HD PVR.
