Windows Media Center Remote Control

Hi there!!

Can anyone please help me... I am looking for a new MCE Remote Control and Receiver looking like this one:

Now I understand there is more versions of the Microsoft remote, so I was hoping someone can direct me to a store that has knowledge of these remotes and where I can buy one.
It must be a Microsoft remote please - I love the layout. I live in Pretoria so a store near to me would be nice.

I use to have one (but gave it away). Rather look at Take2 and the Logitech - way better. Personally not impressed with M$ remote - the first time I've ever been critical of their hardware. The remote felt cheap, as in very cheap.

Here, damn good price and works perfectly (http://www.isonic.co.za/toys.htm) I have been using one for the last 6 months. Works well with XBMC too.

Those original MCE remotes have become like hen's teeth. The closest I have found is the Haupage MCE remote, it's still quite clunky & fugly compared to the original though.

Another option would be to buy a Logitech Harmony remote and a USB IR reciever and add the MCE remote to that. You can then use that to manage all your other devices.

Argh! ToxicBunny, what IR receiver are you using with your harmony remote? I got me a cheapy remote to keep me going until I could get the harmony, but the crummy receiver only accepts commands from the remote it came with. Did you just buy an MCE or hauppage remote with receiver then chuck the remote?

I know they're a bit pricey, but we use the Logitech diNovo mini, it's really cool! You can also use it for your PS3 if you have one - rechargeable battery life is excellent (30+ days), and the range is also good... That isonic one from prophecy. It uses some really weird instruction set, so a harmony wont work with it. As for the diNovo mini, can it turn on my TV, switch outputs/inputs on my amp? Not that I know of. Which is why I went for the harmony remote...

Yes, thats what I have right now, but I prefer XBMC. Then only a few keys work, and again, cant turn on the TV, amp, etc.

Just as well then, I ordered from them as they said "in stock with supplier". Turned out supplier didn't have stock and I was told end September, so I changed my order. Surely one can get a receiver only....
