Ok so Windows Movie Maker is not free anymore, seeing as Windows essentials not longer exists. I do however need windows movie maker urgently for a project. Can anyone recommend a free version or maybe a legit version that I can buy?(maybe even a good alternative?)
I found this site:http://www.windows-movie-maker.org/windows-movie-maker-purchase.html
But not sure how legit it is.

Can anyone assist PLEASE???

I am also looking for a decent alternative to Movie Maker. I've tried a few on that list but I really miss how easy Movie Maker was to use.

Here's my archived copy of Windows Movie Maker 6.2.

Although at this point, I'd recommend that WMM users consider picking up Kdenlive as an alternative. A lot of the transition effects and the way you apply them are done in a similar way, and it's easy to get into it.

WMM also has inefficiencies when it comes to exporting media, and the hoops required to be able to output 720p or 1080p H.264 content will be a bit of a bother.

That movie maker installs, but doesn't seem to work properly. I can't import my mp4's at all.

You will need to install some codecs required for it to work. WMM in Vista didn't work with MP4 video out of the box, and you needed to install plugins to support other media as well. It's compatible with AVI and that sort of thing, because those formats were more prevalent at the time. I remember needing to do this, but Kdenlive eventually replaced WMM after I spent a lot of time messing about with Blender.

It's also capable of MKV support, but I remember that to be a pain in the ass.
