Windows Phone 7 - Opinions

I am actually considering getting the Samsung Omnia 7 for work, or Samsung Focus (which has a sd card slot) if its released outside US.

It's like comparing MS DOS to MS Windows - same idea, different product.

Does anyone know when they're going to be launching in SA? And the devices, will it just be one or 2 or more than that?
 
I am actually surprised that M$ has not learned from Apple's mistakes and decides not to implement copy&paste as well as multi-tasking and deferred those features to a future release. One would think, that if they can spend USD 500m on marketing for the launch of the WinPhone, they could have spent some more IT-budget to get the basics out of the way. Granted, copy&paste is not used often, but the lack of implementation is a surefire-way to attract bad publicity. I have used Symbian (Nokia lost the plot in the last 3 years), Android (still think that the HTC G1 is the best phone with the crappiest camera out there) and now moved to the iPhone4 (truly enjoy the awesome camera and that I can use Nike+ on the phone) and just find the WinPhone UI shocking.

Fair, but M$ did say they will implement copy-paste in a near update. it seems like M$ is rather proud of WinPho7's XBL integration and the quality of games that will come out at launch. Its just a matter of taste when it comes to the UI. I find it minimalist design appealing (some might not find it appealing). i mean heck my brother hates HTCs Sense, I dislike Motorolla's Blur and Samsungs TouchWiz but thats just a matter of taste hey.

quite interesting to hear about the game-experience. from what I have read, some of those games and apps take between 1-3 minutes to start. Not sure if improvements will reduce the startup time, but certainly worrying from an end-user experience. Will be interesting to see how the phone will work if you play a game and get an incoming call/SMS - especially with the lack of multi-tasking.

All apps are required to accept focus in less than 20 seconds. The 1-3 mins was when they did things like creating a new profile, loading different maps and other things.
The phone won't just sit there for 3 mins loading while the user twiddles his/ her thumbs :)

Wow, that's great! I never knew it was being developed by South Africans. This is one of the most anticipated and showed-off games in WP7 - well done to them!

Now just, who is going to be importing the venue pro? Dell it may be, but it is awesome!
 
I've started to drool over the HTC 7 Pro, which will be a worthy upgrade for my Touch Pro 2. Hardware keyboard for speed typing, with all the rest of the benefits of WinPho7, and I am a happy man. It has all the features I use on my TP2 now, but in a faster more updated platform. I am excited. Add the fact that I can properly manage music and podcasts on the phone, and I am even more excited.
 
Must say It looks decent. Im happy with my galaxy s but after seeing the videos of the interface I was more than pleasantly surprised with the interface on the phones. Would love to play around with one when they get here.

Only worry is that there arn't many instances where WinPho7 switches from portrait mode to landscape mode when you turn your phone :/
